Ayra Starr - Tornado
CREATIVE DIRECTION & STRATEGY
“Tornado” called for build-up, not a drop.
So we treated the rollout like an incoming weather system - a slow, deliberate escalation until the storm finally broke.

The strategy was anticipation first - earn the audience's attention before the track ever played. We built the storm as breaking news, launching StarrGirl TV and putting Ayra's DJ, KO, on camera as a live weather reporter: a Category 4 “severe starrfall” warning, a tornado hitting June 12th, one instruction - stay inside the glow. Told entirely in the StarrGirl aesthetic, the warning let fans discover the tension for themselves.
StarrGirl TV - breaking news
It caught. DJ KO's “weather warning - tornado is coming this Friday” spread fast, fans called it genius, and the internet ran with it, making their own storm content and asking how to survive it. The whisper had become a frenzy.
Fan reaction - the internet runs with it
We tightened the tension with a teaser - a crumpled “Weather Warning: a tornado hitting June 12th” note - then broke the storm. A boiler room proved the song in the room before the world, and the first visuals landed the reveal: Ayra at the centre of the tornado, unmistakably its cause. She's finally here.

The campaign culminated in a Tornado Watch Party - turning the release into a shared live moment, and carrying the audience all the way from “something's coming” to “she's here.”
An anticipation-led rollout that turned mystery into momentum - a fan-made frenzy before a note was even played, and a release that arrived already feeling like an event.
